The RSCM Millennium Youth Choir is a very high standard auditioned training choir for young people aged 16–23. This span of ages, from school years through college and beyond, encourages ongoing development of musical skills amongst choir members, as well as friendships that will last a lifetime.
Principally working with leading choral director Adrian Lucas, the choir also works with other experienced directors and musicians throughout the year.
Its programme of training days, cathedral visits and residential courses allows the choir to experience music of all styles and periods. From Gregorian chant, through the Renaissance masters and the towering challenges of J S Bach, their repertoire stretches on to newly commissioned works in a variety of genres.
Individual musical and vocal tuition is a key feature of courses and events, along with regular opportunities to record and broadcast.
Founded in 2000 at the instigation of Lord Carey, former Archbishop of Canterbury, it offers a wonderful opportunity for young singers to sing the widest and most exciting range of sacred music in worship to the highest standards.
