World Choral Conducting Competition (Hong Kong) finalists announced
The World Youth and Children Choral Artists’ Association – 世界青少年合唱藝術家協會 – has announced the 12 finalists chosen to participate in the inaugural World Choral Conducting Competition in Hong Kong in July 2019.
The new competition, which takes place from 11–15 July 2019, aims to help talented and rising conductors of the next generation to establish an international conducting career, bridging the gap between professional training and professional life. The organisers received applications from 29 countries.
The Champion of the Competition will receive a concert engagement with the Slovenian Philharmonic Choir in the 2019/20 Concert Season. In addition to multiple cash awards totalling over HK$120,000 (US$15,300/GB£12,000), winners will also share opportunities to study with renowned choral directors including Prof. Péter Erdei (Chair of the competition jury) and fellow jurors, Dr Brady Allred and Prof. Ragnar Rasmussen.
