Hong Kong’s young choirs take to the harbourfront for HKPAX
Hong Kong’s young singers will perform against the backdrop of Victoria Harbour on Thursday 8 October, as a free outdoor choral evening brings the city’s choirs into the Hong Kong Performing Arts Expo (HKPAX) programme.
The harbourfront series extends HKPAX beyond its professional delegates, giving residents and visitors an opportunity to experience performances in an open-air setting. Open Prologue also features contemporary dance, Cantonese opera and live music, with a different artistic focus each evening.
Organised by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, HKPAX takes place from 9 to 13 October, bringing international performing arts professionals together for performances, pitching sessions, talks, exhibitions and networking. The choral evening offers an early opportunity to hear Hong Kong’s young performers before the main expo begins.
The Hong Kong Children’s Choir will perform with choirs from St Stephen’s College Preparatory School, St Paul’s Co-educational College, Heep Yunn School and Wah Yan College (Kowloon).
The evening is curated by the World Youth and Children Choral Artists Association. Established in 1997 by its artistic director, Professor Leon Tong, WYCCAA has developed international choral exchange through festivals, competitions and educational activities. Its initiatives include the World Choral Festival and World Youth Choral Festival, connecting young singers with conductors and ensembles from around the world.
The choral evening takes place on Thursday 8 October 2026, 4.30–7.30pm, at Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza C. Admission is free.
