SingFit and AARP collaborate to support family caregivers through music
SingFit, the California-based technology platform, has announced a new collaboration with AARP to make its active music engagement app more widely available to family caregivers.
AARP is a US-based nonprofit, nonpartisan organisation focused on issues affecting people aged 50 and over. It has nearly 38 million members and describes its work as helping people choose how they live as they age.
Through the new collaboration with SingFit, AARP members and registered users will be offered free music resources and discounted access to SingFit’s platform, which is designed to support connection, engagement and everyday wellbeing through singing.
According to AARP, there were around 63 million caregivers in the US in 2025 – nearly one in four adults. Many are in midlife and balancing caring responsibilities with work, family and other demands. SingFit said these caregivers often experience high levels of emotional, physical and financial stress, with research from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention linking caregiving stress to poorer health outcomes compared with non-caregivers.
SingFit’s app is designed to help caregivers and their loved ones share active music-making experiences. The platform is already used in more than 1,000 senior living communities and skilled nursing facilities across the US.
The app uses a catalogue of well-known songs and other favourites, with tools that help caregivers identify music their loved ones may respond to. Its Lyric Coach feature prompts participants with spoken words before they are sung, supporting participation and helping users sing along with confidence.
Rachel Francine, co-founder and CEO of SingFit, said, ‘SingFit is built to encourage more people to sing, an activity research has shown can impact our minds and our bodies in a range of positive ways.
‘We’re extremely pleased that AARP has recognised our platform’s ability to support caregivers and help reduce their burden by actively using the instrument we all have, our voices.’
SingFit was created by a music therapist and describes its platform as a way to deliver active music engagement, helping reduce caregiver stress while creating moments of joy and stronger personal connection.
