Andrea Bocelli to headline inaugural Land of Song Festival in Cardiff
Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli will give his first headline concert in Wales as part of the inaugural Land of Song Festival at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium in May 2027.
The Italian tenor will perform on Saturday 8 May, joined by the Welsh National Opera Orchestra and a massed choir.
The concert will form the centrepiece of the three-day Land of Song Festival, taking place from 7 to 9 May 2027 and bringing together large-scale professional and participatory singing events.
The following day, Sunday 9 May, will see the return of Côr World Choir, bringing together adult singers from Wales, elsewhere in the UK and overseas. The festival will also include Young Voices Cymru, for children aged seven to 14.
Organisers say more than 30,000 singers have already registered their interest in taking part in the festival.
The Land of Song Festival is being presented by Young Voices, working with partners including Kilimanjaro Live, Principality Stadium, Cardiff Council and the Welsh Government.
The event also draws on Young Voices’ long association with large-scale singing in Cardiff. In 1992, founder David Lewis brought together a 10,000-strong male voice choir at Cardiff Arms Park alongside Tom Jones, followed by a further event featuring Shirley Bassey the following year.
