The single was released on 7 August and marks the beginning of a recording project celebrating 25 years of the award-winning ensemble, founded and directed by Nigel Short.

The Journey forms part of Tenebrae’s wider anniversary programme, which will run through the 2026/27 season and reflect the choir’s development since its foundation in 2001.

The new album will sit alongside a programme of anniversary performances, new commissions and projects supporting emerging singers and composers. Tenebrae is also marking the anniversary with its Undiscovered Voices composition competition, Associate Artists programme and education work.

The release comes as Tenebrae begins a particularly high-profile period of anniversary activity. The choir performed Joby Talbot’s Path of Miracles at the BBC Proms on 9 August, ahead of further performances during the 2026/27 season.

Tenebrae has built an international reputation for performances and recordings spanning Renaissance repertoire to contemporary choral music, and has worked extensively with living composers throughout its 25-year history.
