PCSO Chorale wins Grand Prix at Korea International Choir Competition 2026
The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office Chorale has been named Grand Prix Champion at the 2026 Korea International Choir Competition, triumphing over 47 other choirs at the event held at Incheon National University.
Competing against ensembles from Indonesia, South Korea, Russia, Taiwan, Malaysia, the United States, Poland and the Philippines, the choir secured the overall title following performances of ‘Puer Natus in Bethlehem’ and ‘Te Lucis Ante Terminum’ in the finals. The competition was adjudicated by a 14-member international jury of choral specialists and music professionals. In addition to the Grand Prix, the PCSO Chorale won gold medals in both the Sacred Music and Mixed categories. As overall winner, the ensemble qualifies for the 7th Asia Choral Grand Prix, to be held in Manila in August 2027. The choir is conducted by Robert Delgado, with Tristan Ignacio serving as choir master. According to PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles, the 2026 competition marked the ensemble’s first participation in an international event. He described the victory as a reflection of the group’s dedication and as a source of pride for the Philippines. Founded in 1998 and composed of employees of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, the PCSO Chorale was revitalised in September 2023 under Robles’ leadership. The Korea International Choir Competition, which debuted in Songdo, South Korea, brings together choirs from across the region and beyond for competitions, workshops and guest performances.
