Susannah Self to co-direct Alchemy summer vocal course in Norfolk
Composer and CHORALLY Composer+ member Susannah Self has announced that she will co-direct this year’s Alchemy summer vocal course alongside leading repetiteur Kelvin Lim.
The course will take place at the Wells Maltings Arts Centre on the north Norfolk coast, offering participants a blend of choral singing and one-to-one vocal work in an intensive and supportive setting. Kelvin Lim, Music Director of Postgraduate Opera Studies at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, trained at the Royal College of Music and brings extensive experience in opera and advanced vocal coaching to the programme. Alongside ensemble work, singers on the course will prepare for a major performance opportunity: participation in the Universal Choir at the première of Self’s large-scale work Song of The Golden Flower, to be given at Cadogan Hall on 18 March 2027. The Alchemy course is based at the Wells Maltings Arts Centre, a coastal venue known for its creative residencies and performance programme. With dedicated time for choral singing as well as individual coaching, the summer course is designed for singers seeking both artistic development and a pathway to a high-profile concert platform. Further details about the Alchemy summer vocal course and participation in the 2027 Cadogan Hall performance are available via Susannah Self and the course organisers.
